Assist in developing the capacity of farmers in the Solomon Islands while working on an exciting research project!

The International Potato Center (CIP) is a Peruvian organisation that seeks to reduce poverty and achieve food security on a sustained basis in developing countries through scientific research and related activities on potato, sweet potato and other root and tuber crops (for more information visit www.cipotato.org)

CIP currently requires an experienced person as a technical assistant to assist on a research project which will study the use of pathogen tested planting materials to improve sustainable sweet potato production in the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea.

The successful candidate will assist with the collection and bulking up of planting material and the establishment of demonstration trials. Other duties will include assisting with the planning and implementation of farmer Field Schools and regular internal and external reporting.

We are looking for candidates that have:

• A Diploma or degree in Agriculture or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of Root and Tuber crop production
• Experience in establishing and maintaining field trials
• A commitment to team work, coaching and mentoring others
• Patience, tolerance and flexibility
