ArcData Online is ESRI's Internet Mapping and Data Site. The site contains a wide assortment
of geographic information that users can access to create map images and download
data.

If you do not care about political boundaries,
and want eco-regions instead, you can download the global
ecoregions map (large shapefile) from the World Wildlife Fund.

They are in the MrSid format that can be visualized in DIVA-GIS (note: they are
in UTM projections, so you will need to project your shapefiles as well).
