The Odyssey of the Potato - Exhibition

The exhibition is organized as a colorful, highly illustrated story with a series of sections that explains in non-technical terms:

1) the domestication of the potato in Peru, and the evolution of the potato into the 5000 varieties that we see today in the Andes

2) the importance of potatoes in pre-Colombian cultures

3) the Spanish discovery of the potato and its introduction into Europe

4) the dissemination of potato within Europe and its influence on European cultures

5) the dissemination of the potato to other parts of the world

6) the importance of the potato today for food security and economic growth in the developing world

The exhibition has been developed by CIP and supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Peru. During 2008, it was exhibited in Switzerland, Norway, Belgium, the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain, France and Italy.
