Guidelines for Urban Agriculture in Kampala
Urban
Harvest and KUFSALC have published five sets of
guidelines on urban agriculture for the City Council
of Kampala to include in their Ordinance on Urban
Agriculture. These
guidelines have been accepted and cleared by the
technical officers who are pleased that the
guidelines reflect what is in the Ordinance.
In 2004 the Kampala City Council approved new
ordinances* on urban agriculture making it
legitimate and secure for urban agriculturalists and
traders to conduct agricultural activities in the
city. In
the near future the Kampala City Council Ordinance
on Urban Agriculture and related food production
will become law in Uganda including the five
guidelines on: urban
agriculture, livestock,
meat,
fish,
and dairy.
