urban agriculture

Cities in Anglophone Africa with urban agriculture: Concepts,
tools and case studies for practitioners, planners and policy
makers"

The online-course was designed based on the
CD-Rom of the same title. The course derived from a workshop
carried out in 2004 on urban and peri-urban agriculture on
Anglophone Africa. The aim of the online course allows for
municipal authorities, students, NGO workers, or other
interested people in urban and peri-urban agriculture to
either strengthen their knowledge or learn about the variety
of topics involved in urban and peri-urban agriculture.
The online course is based on seven modules, whilst
providing more educational information on urban agriculture
from selected, with maps, photos, case studies, and diagrams.
The contents of the online course aims to improve the
understanding of urban agriculture in various forms.
Therefore, enabling the user to explain the concepts of
urban agriculture, identify health impacts, evaluate the
potentials and constrains of crop production, estimate the
risks and opportunities of livestock production, implement
solid waste management procedures, treat and re-use
wastewater, promote the integration of urban agriculture in
urban planning and development.
