video cover

The first Urban Harvest documentary demonstrates what is urban agriculture and why it is practiced in particular in Metropolitan Lima. The documentary identifies the reality of urban agriculture in the eastern district of Lima and describes the importance of urban agriculture as a livelihood strategy for families that contributes to their food security and provides them with extra and alternative income, while also maintaining a sustainable city environment. The DVD identifies and explains the problems and opportunities that encircle urban agricultural activities in the eastern district of Lima, called Lurigancho-Chosica, that happens to be area of study for the development project “Farmers in the City”. (The project is part of a worldwide program, Urban Harvest, an initiative of the CGIAR).
